Last week the whole world had eyes for only one event, the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Across Britain millions of people came together to take part in the festivities, hold street parties within their communities and generally get into the celebratory spirit.

Wanting to join in the celebrations too, Torque arranged #RoyalWedding tea parties across their sites with the aim to bring employees together and share in the festive spirit but most importantly to help raise money for our Community Partners, Wakefield Riding for the Disable and Rainbow Ward at Wigan Hospital.

Employees took the time to bake royal and British themed cakes, sweets, and biscuits, they made homemade sausage rolls, pies, sandwiches and other delights, all for the purpose of selling at our tea parties. Our canteens were draped in Union Jack’s and staff entered into the spirit of the day, wearing red, white and blue and dressing as their favourite Prince and his bride to be. We even had a royal themed quiz for die-hard Royal Family fans to test their knowledge.

In total the day raised a whopping £513.41, which will go towards buying a new pony for Wakefield RDA and a building a much needed 'Teen Zone' for Wigan Hospital. In addition to all the money raised by our generous employees, the leftover food was donated to St. Georges Crypt, a charity which provides shelter and food for the homeless.

As always we’re incredibly proud of the generosity of our staff and their enthusiasm to get involved and raise money. Well done Team Torque!
